Discount Calculator

Calculate sale price, amount saved and final price after an optional tax percentage.

Enter your values and press Calculate.

Tip: country presets are starting points only. Replace rates and prices with your actual figures whenever possible.

How this calculator works

The discount is applied to the original price first. If a tax percentage is entered, it is then applied to the discounted sale price.

Formula

Final price = original × (1 − discount %) × (1 + tax %)
Example

A 25% discount on $120 reduces the price by $30 to $90 before tax.

Getting a more accurate result

  • Check whether local tax is applied before or after discounts.
  • For stacked discounts, calculate them sequentially rather than adding percentages.
  • Use 0% tax if tax is already included in the displayed price.

Understanding your result

The result is intended for comparison and planning. Real-world costs can differ because of local taxes, fees, tariffs, financing, usage patterns, equipment efficiency, rounding and other conditions. For important decisions, verify the inputs against your bill, contract, lender, employer or other authoritative source.

Frequently asked questions

Is 20% off then 10% off the same as 30% off?

No. Sequential discounts multiply, so 20% then 10% equals a 28% total reduction.

Can I calculate tax too?

Yes. Enter the tax percentage to estimate the final checkout price.

What if tax is included in the sticker price?

Leave the tax field at zero.
